Child10, RealStars, Unizon, ROKS, and the County Administrative Boards of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland invite you to a full-day event on May 26th, addressing the issue of modern-day digital brothels.
You can read more and sign up for the event here.
Today, prostitution, human trafficking, and the exploitation of children and women are just a click away. On the internet, you can find everything from sites openly marketing sex purchases to newer, more glorified and appealing platforms, such as sugar-dating websites and OnlyFans. Yet, they all have one thing in common – they profit immensely from exploiting women, young girls, and others in the ever-growing porn and sex industry. Despite the fact that buying “sex” is illegal in Sweden, thousands of men, with the help of various digital brothels, publicly solicit women online for the purpose of exploitation and violation – without facing any repercussions.
To discuss the current situation, the challenges, and possible solutions, we are gathering experts, representatives from law enforcement, prosecutors, civil society, survivors, and politicians on May 26th. Do we need new laws or more courageous prosecutors and politicians? What must be done for Sweden to stop this and shut down the websites where exploitation occurs? We will also highlight examples from countries like Belgium and the U.S., which have made more progress on this issue.
Child10, RealStars, Unizon, ROKS, and the County Administrative Boards of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland invite you to this full-day event to shine a spotlight on digital brothels, with the goal of finding solutions to shut down these sites and hold administrators accountable for what they are truly engaged in: pimping.
