On the evening of 25th January, 700 people gathered at the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg to listen to Tomas Sjödin, author, columnist and an admired lecturer who inspires with his stories. RealStars are so pleased that together with Räddningsmissionen (the Rescue Mission) we were the charities for this event.
The event began with a classical music performance by the Smyrna Symphony Orchestra, and was followed by important presentations from Malin Roux Johansson, the founder of RealStars, and Caroline Casco, project manager Räddningsmissionen, on how we can together stop trafficking. It was an inspiring evening with vital subjects being lifted to the forefront.
Tomas had the whole audience captivated with stories of his experiences about why it is so important to prioritise in life, to appreciate that not everything is essential to get done, and if you close the door on something, often a new door opens. These words can be linked to what Caroline and Malin put forward, that we want to close the door on trafficking, and with this open up new possibilities for the victims. That it is each and every one one of ours responsibility to stand up to trafficking, as together we are able to put a stop to what is happening. Malin emphasised the significance that demand has on the sex trade, and if we manage to end demand today, then there would be no trafficking tomorrow.
We also sold cool cloth bags and tshirts with our important message and the role of Fair Sex in the work against trafficking, and there were many interesting and worthwhile discussions in the coffee break. The profits from the evening went to RealStars and Räddningsmissionen, which we are so grateful for. We wish to thank Clarion Hotel Post for the fantastic collaboration and relationship we have with them, and look forward to many more events together.
A big thank you to Libris Press, Dagen and Bilda who made the evening possible!
