The business world has an enormous responsibility in the fight against sex trafficking. RealStars has for many years been conducting various cooperating projects with the business community to specifically address trafficking for sexual purpose in the work of CSR.
On Monday (16/2) RealStars’ founder Malin Roux, along with Sasha Beslik at Nordea, Inger Mattson at Scandic Hotels and Eva Axelsson at KPA Pension, published an article in Dagens Industri, which highlights the business world’s responsibility in the matter.
The article emphasizes how important it is that ethical guidelines on human rights are specified and kept alive through internal discussions. Otherwise, guidelines and policies run the risk of being empty words without any real content.
A concrete example of what companies can do is to develop a specific policy regarding the purchasing of sex during work-trips – one fourth of all purchasing of sex occurs abroad during work-trips – and set guidelines in trafficking issues.
Much remains to be done, but with full commitment to the issue in the business world we will come a long way.
