What an intense and amazing week from June 14-21! We held the first Auction Against Trafficking in six years, together with our incredible role models: Therése Lindgren, Otto Wallin, Oscar Ahlin, Robin Söderling, and Linda Pira. A BIG THANK YOU to each of them!
With the support of three athletes, a driven influencer, and a powerful artist from the hip-hop scene, we were able to put this auction together. Without focusing solely on the total raised – almost 18,000kr! – we are very grateful to all of you who placed bids to help increase the value of the donations made by our role models. For example, we received a full 8,700kr for Otto Wallin’s boxing gloves – read Sundsvalls Tidning‘s article about Otto and the auction!
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word! The auction week was incredibly intense – a government crisis, the Euro Cup, and an important act against men’s violence against women were all unfolding. As you can imagine, reporters were extremely busy, but despite not being able to get involved or write about our initiative, not a single reporter hung up when we reached out to create media coverage. On the contrary, they wanted to listen and thought what we had to say was important. Everyone agreed that “sex” purchases and trafficking must be fought. Society needs to allocate funds to combat the high demand for purchasing “sex.”
Auction Against Trafficking is a great concept. It gives us the opportunity to spread awareness about “sex” purchases and sexual exploitation on a broad scale. We are planning another auction in preparation for the EU’s Anti-Trafficking Day, with more details to come after the summer!
