Stockholm’s Best Fair Sex School 2023

During the year, RealStars, with the support of HM Queen Silvia’s foundation “Care About the Children,” has organized two competitions aimed at high schools in Stockholm. One of the competitions aimed to honor the schools’ work on the overarching curriculum topic “Sex, Consent, and Relationships” by mapping the activities the schools have carried out throughout the year and awarding the schools that performed the best. In this post, you can read more about the three finalists in the competition and hear the reasoning behind why they excel in Fair Sex.

Stockholm’s Best Fair Sex School 2023 is

PSYKOLOGIGYMNASIET

Reasoning:

“Norm-strengthening work regarding the area of ‘Sex, Consent, and Relationships’ has permeated the work at Psykologigymnasiet across all grades throughout the year. The school has carried out a number of activities on the theme, many of which were in collaboration with other organizations such as Solna stad, Fryshuset, and ATSUB to broaden the perspectives of the students. Through continuous efforts, both theoretical and practical, the school contributes to a permissive climate where questions about Fair Sex can be discussed.”

Other finalists

NACKA GYMNASIUM

Reasoning:

“By appointing two teachers tasked with developing the school’s work on the new curriculum area ‘Sex, Consent, and Relationships,’ Nacka Gymnasium has been able to establish sustainable work for Fair Sex that has increased knowledge among both teachers and students. The efforts for Fair Sex have led to collaborations and initiatives within many curriculum subjects, creating repeated opportunities for students to learn about these issues while also reflecting on their own norms and values from various perspectives.”

KUNSKAPSGYMNASIET GLOBEN

Reasoning:

“After previously identifying structural problems regarding students’ views on consent and sexuality, Kunskapsgymnasiet Globen has worked hard to counter these through a large interdisciplinary project. The project consists of a four-week component during the first year that encompasses all subjects, teachers, and students. Through this work, the school has observed a change in students’ attitudes and has demystified the topic, creating a safe space where more students dare to speak up and ask questions about Fair Sex and sexual exploitation.”

A big congratulations to Psykologigymnasiet and thank you to all three finalists for your hard work in establishing norms for Fair Sex and against sexual exploitation among your students. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Hotel Courtyard by Marriott for allowing us to use their facilities for the gala and art exhibition. Thank you as well to Liber förlag for contributing a book kit and digital tools to the winning school.
