Christine, our new process leader at RealStars Stockholm

Hi! My name is Christine Gandal, and I will be taking over as the new process leader for RealStars in Stockholm.

Unfortunately, Emelie can no longer continue, but I am excited to have the opportunity to work on combating trafficking. I hope to make a difference during my time here at RealStars.

This spring, I will complete my master’s degree in Human Rights at Uppsala University, where I have conducted research and written my thesis on the sexualization of racialized individuals among Sweden’s younger generation. I have also interned with the organization “Porrfri Barndom” (Childhood Free from Pornography). While I have always been passionate about human rights and have independently studied issues surrounding sexual violence, it was during my time at Porrfri Barndom that I realized just how critical the work against sexual violence and exposure to violence truly is. Although I still volunteer for other organizations that work against sexual violence, I was drawn to RealStars because of their unique approach. RealStars works directly with vulnerable individuals and other affected groups while spreading awareness in innovative and creative ways and tackling demand. I have also studied men’s violence against women, gender and development, as well as gender and military masculinity.

I am a creative person who enjoys planning events, writing, researching, and meeting new people. My goal is to continue advancing the important work RealStars does by spreading knowledge, for example, to hotels and schools, as well as visiting and building connections with Thai massage parlors across Stockholm. I also hope to focus on increasing our visibility on social media and expanding our volunteer network. The work RealStars does is so essential and self-evident. I believe that both I and RealStars can make a real difference in society.

Fun fact: I love art and culture and am a reviewer for the cultural magazine KULT.
